i've made honey / the god / of this starving / mouth.
          but i am / not a faithful / believer.

my praises / are only ever / shaped / like wings.
          away / away / away.

my / liturgies / are regurgitated.
my hymnals / are / plagiarized.

the honeycomb / bleeds gold.
and a voice / says / "you chose wrong."

because:       gods do not / like to be / replaced.

the difference / between / me and / god / is this —
what is holy / cannot / exist with / the / unholy.
                  and god laughs.
